How to reach Ranthambore By Air

Ranthambore is located near Sawai Madhopur, in southeastern Rajasthan, and can be reached by air through several airports depending on your itinerary. Jaipur International Airport is the most commonly used airport for travellers visiting Ranthambore, particularly for international visitors, while airports such as Delhi, Kota and Udaipur can also be considered depending on flight availability and your wider Rajasthan itinerary. From the chosen airport, the journey to Ranthambore continues by private car or taxi. Rajasthan Tourism confirms Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur as the state’s major airports, with Jaipur also handling international traffic

Main Airports for Reaching Ranthambore:

  • Jaipur International Airport (JAI) – Approximately 175–185 km from Sawai Madhopur. It is the most practical airport for most visitors and offers extensive domestic connectivity as well as selected international connections. Rajasthan Tourism
  • Delhi International Airport (DEL) – Approximately 400–450 km from Ranthambore. A useful option for international travellers who are already visiting Delhi or cannot find a suitable connection to Jaipur.
  • Kota Airport (KTU) – Kota is geographically closer to Ranthambore, at around 145 km, but its commercial flight connectivity is limited, so it is not usually the first choice for air travellers. Rajasthan Tourism
  • Udaipur International Airport (UDR) – A practical option for travellers combining Ranthambore with destinations such as Udaipur, although it involves a considerably longer road journey to Ranthambore. Rajasthan Tourism lists Udaipur’s Maharana Pratap Airport as one of the state’s major airports. Rajasthan Tourism
  • Jodhpur Airport (JDH) – Another option for travellers combining Ranthambore with western Rajasthan destinations such as Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, though the road journey to Ranthambore is substantially longer than from Jaipur.

For most safari travellers, Jaipur is the most convenient starting point by air, particularly when Ranthambore is part of a Rajasthan itinerary. Once you arrive at your chosen airport, Ranthambore Routes can arrange a private transfer to Sawai Madhopur or your selected Ranthambore resort, making the journey comfortable and straightforward. If you are travelling through multiple destinations in Rajasthan, we can also help coordinate transfers as part of your wider itinerary.
