Ranthambore Safari Zone
Ranthambore’s safari area is divided into designated tourism zones, allowing visitors to explore different parts of the tiger reserve while helping regulate tourism and reduce pressure on the wildlife habitat. Each zone has its own landscape, water bodies, forest tracks and wildlife habitat, so every safari can offer a different experience. The allocation of safari zones is controlled through the official forest department’s permit system, and wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed because animals move freely throughout their natural habitat.
Ranthambore Safari Zones:
Zone 1: Includes areas around Singhdwar, Raipur, Amreshwar, Tuti Ka Nalla, Sultanpur, Gadadub, Khariyachatha, Pilapani and other forest tracks.
Zone 2: Covers areas around Jogi Mahal Gate, Jhalra, Kamaldhar, Amrai, Footabandha, Pandudeh, Guda and Gandhria.
Zone 3: Includes Padam Talao, Rajbagh and Mandook, along with surrounding forest areas. The zone is known for its combination of lakes, grasslands and forest landscapes.
Zone 4: Covers areas including Tambakhan, Malik Talao, Lakarda, Berda and Semali.
Zone 5: Includes areas around Jokha, Kachida, Dhakra, Bagdah, Bakola and Anatpura.
Zones 6–10: These additional tourism zones extend the safari experience beyond the original core tourism routes and provide access to different landscapes and wildlife habitats within the wider Ranthambore Tiger Reserve.
Different landscapes: Depending on the allocated zone, guests may encounter lakes, open grasslands, rocky terrain, dry deciduous forest and seasonal water sources.
Zone allocation: Safari permits are issued for specific zones, and the assigned zone determines the route available during that particular safari.
There is no single zone that can guarantee a particular wildlife sighting. Tigers, leopards, sloth bears, deer and other animals move naturally between suitable habitats, while weather, season, water availability and animal behaviour can influence what you encounter on a particular drive. The best approach is to explore the forest with patience and allow your naturalist and driver to interpret the signs and surroundings. Ranthambore Routes can help you plan your safari experience and arrange the appropriate permits and transfers, so you can focus on discovering the diverse landscapes and wildlife of Ranthambore.
